Ernesto Montes is a native of Spain with an engineering background and a long time love of European art and history. Before coming to the United States in 2001, he had worked since the 1990s as a representative of Spanish publishers in Europe. He has spent many years familiarizing himself with documents from the third to sixteenth centuries.

On arrival here, he set up his American company, The Treasured Library, in partnership with his wife and co-owner, Vicky Gardner, in Dallas, Texas.
